This is a question I hear even from experienced spa goers.
There are many types of body wrap products and each have different benefits. Most are detoxifying, hydrating or sliming. Be sure to ask your spa provider which is best for you so you received the desire affect you want.
All body wraps start with an exfoliation either a dry brushing or body scrub. This helps to slough off dead skin cells and allow the product to penetrate the skin as deeply as possible. The body mask is applied to the skin. You are then wrapped up in a warming blanket, plastic wrap and a scalp or foot massage takes place while your body relishes the benefits of the wrap. You are unwrapped after about 20 minutes. Shower off the product and a moisturizer is applied (add mini massage to finish your treatment).
There are many types of body wraps. Detox wraps use a variety of products such as clay seaweed, mud, algae or gel to help rid the body of toxins. Stimulating your circulation, drawing out impurities, and replenishing your body with minerals. As well as a great way to jump start a new diet and exercise program.
Hydrating body wraps use creams and gels to soften, soothe and hydrate the skin. Great for recovering from too much sun. As well as improving the elasticity of maturing skin.
Finally there are slimming wraps. Very labor-intensive specialty that aren’t found everywhere. Each limb is tightly wrapped in Ace bandages that have been soaked in a high-concentration mineral solution to detox and remineralize the body. You look a little bit like the mummy once you’re wrapped. You are measured before and after so you can tell how many inches you lost. I don’t recommend these.
Overall body wraps are designed to improve the texture and appearance of the skin by helping to rid the body of excess fluids and toxins. The benefits include detoxification, boosting of the lymphatic system and metabolism, body contouring, temporary inch loss, and skin softening.
Now go get one! You won’t regret it!
